Apart from providing academic and pastoral support, living in College is also a very cost effective alternative, when compared with other forms of private rental accommodation.
Above all it provides an array of extracurricular activities and an opportunity to develop friendships, networks and collegiality among students. The various Colleges of the University accommodate between 50 to 300 students. All student rooms are fully furnished with beds, wardrobes, desks and bookshelves. Most include heating, telephones, and internet access.
The Colleges generally offer shared and/or private en-suite bathroom facilities, including washing machines, dryers and irons. College provides three meals per day, and communal dining offering students an opportunity to mingle with College heads, tutors, visiting academics, scholars, leading professionals and guest speakers.
Most Colleges maintain substantial library collections, which are available to assist both undergraduates and postgraduates with their research. Access to computer laboratories, photocopiers, seminar, tutorial and music practice rooms, junior and senior common rooms, and general games and television/relaxation areas helps to make College living an attractive environment.
The opportunity to participate in a range of active intercollegiate sports programs is a further important element in valuing College life. Or you may choose to participate in the creative stream of music performance, a College drama production, theatre or magazine.
A range of social activities is co-ordinated by the respective student clubs throughout the academic year, including each College Annual Ball, considered one of the highlights of the social calendar.
