Non University of Melbourne admissions
Some Colleges and Halls admit only students studying at the University of Melbourne (which includes the Victorian College of the Arts). Others also admit students studying at tertiary institutions other than the University of Melbourne.
Colleges and Halls of the University of Melbourne may not admit more than 15% of their resident students from outside the University of Melbourne. Depending also on the number of such students being re-admitted, this can mean that there are few vacancies in Colleges and Halls for which such students are eligible.
College policies on the tertiary institutions from which they admit students may vary from time to time. The details as at April 2007 are set out below:
- Graduate House
- All universities, teaching hospitals and research institutions in Melbourne and members of the Graduate Union and members of clubs and colleges with which we have reciprocal rights.
- International House
- Takes University of Melbourne, Victorian College of Pharmacy (part of Monash University), and RMIT City Campus students.
- Janet Clarke Hall
- Takes University of Melbourne and RMIT City Campus students.
- Medley Hall
- Takes University of Melbourne students only.
- Newman College
- Takes University of Melbourne, Victorian College of Pharmacy (part of Monash University), and limited number of RMIT City Campus students.
- Ormond College
- Takes University of Melbourne students only.
- Queen's College
- Takes University of Melbourne, Victorian College of Pharmacy (part of Monash University), and RMIT City Campus students.
- St Hilda's College
- Takes University of Melbourne, Victorian College of Pharmacy (part of Monash University), RMIT City Campus students, and ACU students.
- St Mary's College
- Takes University of Melbourne, Victorian College of Pharmacy (part of Monash University), RMIT City Campus students, and ACU students.
- Trinity College
- Takes University of Melbourne students only.
- University College
- Takes University of Melbourne, Victorian College of Pharmacy (part of Monash University), RMIT City Campus students.
- Whitley College
- Takes University of Melbourne, Victorian College of Pharmacy (part of Monash University), RMIT City Campus students. In exceptional cases, ACU students.
